Lara Panah-Izadi is a French American writer and director of middle eastern descent.
She began directing for the stage by putting on an Opera at age 19. Her first play was selected for the 2014 Yale Playwright’s Festival. In 2015, she directed and edited a documentary based on The Seagull by Chekhov featuring Kevin Kline.
In 2017, she directed and edited her first narrative short, Chloe, a psychological thriller. That year, Lara also moved to LA to work in creative development at Paramount Television.
Her second short film The Summer of Snakes, a biographical drama inspired by the life of artist Niki de Saint Phalle, was produced by Levantine Films (Hidden Figures, Beasts of No Nation) and has won multiple awards at festivals in Europe and the US in 2021.
Lara also learned her craft by working on the sets of major hollywood directors including Barry Levinson, Quentin Tarantino and David Fincher.
Lara recently directed two music video projects and is currently developing two TV shows and her first feature which she is planning to direct soon.
Lara holds a BA degree in Mathematics and Philosophy and Theater Studies from Yale and graduated in 2020 from the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women+ program.

Lara Panah-Izadi est une réalisatrice-scénariste franco américaine.
Après avoir mis en scène deux opéras, Rameau et Strauss à l’age de 19 ans, Lara écrit sa première pièce de théâtre qui est sélectionnée pour le Yale Playwrights’ Festival en 2014. Lara réalise ensuite un documentaire sur “La Mouette” de Chekhov avec la participation de Kevin Kline.
En 2017, elle écrit et réalise son premier court métrage de fiction CHLOE, tourné en France, puis est engagée par Paramount Studios dans le développement créatif de séries TV à Los Angeles, y reste deux ans avant de rejoindre le prestigieux programme de réalisation de l’American Film Institute “The Directing Workshop for Women” à travers lequel elle écrit et réalise son deuxième court métrage THE SUMMER OF SNAKES, inspiré par la vie et l'œuvre de Niki de Saint Phalle, primé dans de nombreux festivals européens et américains.
Lara a aussi appris en travaillant sur les plateaux de grands réalisateurs américains, notamment Barry Levinson, Quentin Tarantino et plus récemment David Fincher. Elle réalise aussi des clips et des publicités en parallèle de l’écriture et du développement de son premier long métrage et de deux séries TV.
Lara est diplomée en Mathématiques et Philosophie de Yale University.
